Full‐time Firefighter

At Our Contract in St Paul Park, MN

STARTING SALARY: $45,000/year


Kurtz Industrial Fire Service is now accepting applications of qualified, highly motivated individuals for

the position of full‐time Firefighter to create an eligibility list. To be considered for the position, an

applicant must submit the following items:

 Copies of all certifications as listed below under Minimum Qualifications.

 Respond to routine and emergency calls as directed.

 Respond to emergency medical and rescue calls to assess the nature and extent of illness and

injury and provide appropriate patient care.

 Respond to emergency callbacks and requests to maintain minimum staffing levels when off


 Mandated overtime, on‐site and off‐site training as required.

 Perform general maintenance on department vehicles and equipment and maintain appropriate

maintenance records.

 Maintain facilities and perform housekeeping duties as directed.

 Perform inspections of fire protection equipment and other regulatory required inspections.

 Ability to develop industry standard pre‐plans.

 Ability to adequately perform petrochemical foam firefighting (calculations, applications, flows).

 Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more.

 Ability to work at heights of 150 feet or more.

 Ability to work in confined spaces.

 Ability to read plot maps, process flowcharts & schematics.

 Ability to perform air monitoring with devices such as gas monitors and Dragger tubes.

 Ability to work under the direction and supervision of a superior officer. In emergency

situations work may involve considerable personal danger.

 Ability to act without continuous supervision and exercise independent discretion while

performing duties in a skillful manner, using sound judgment, based on accepted firefighting


 Work and live for extended periods of time with people of diverse backgrounds in a manner that

fosters teamwork, acceptance, and dignity of fellow employees. Maintain work habits, personal

manners and personal appearance.

 Effectively carry out the policies and goals of Kurtz Industrial Fire Service and the St Paul Park


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (must be met as of closing date):

 Must be at least 18 years of age

 Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

 Possession of a valid and current driver's license

 Current Emergency Medical Responder (National Registry or State equivalent)

 *Current Firefighter I

 Two years' experience as a firefighter

 Must be able to qualify for a TSA Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card

 Successful background investigation

 Successful physical fitness/agility testing

 Drug/alcohol screening


 Current Emergency Medical Technician (National Registry or State equivalent)

 *Current 1081 Industrial Fire Brigade Certification (Must obtain within 12 months of hire)

 *Current Firefighter II Certification

 *Fire Apparatus Operator

 *Fire Instructor

 Hazardous Materials Technician

 Technical Rescue Technician (High Angle Rope, Confined Space and/or Trench)

 BLS/CPR Instructor

 Valid and current CDL

 A.A. Degree in a fire service field

*IFSAC, ProBoard or DOD equivalent certification.
